Aberaeron Longboat Rowing Club

We are a friendly sea rowing club based in Aberaeron, West Wales, whose members enjoy rowing for fun, fitness and competition. If you are interested in exploring the Welsh coastline with a fun and friendly crew, come along and have a go. Rowing is suitable for all ages and all levels of fitness. We welcome anyone over 10 years of age. We row two or three times each week throughout the year, weather conditions permitting. Our club night is every Wednesday when we meet at 6.00pm at the Aberaeron Yacht Club clubhouse or on the harbour slipway close by. Other rowing times are posted on the Yacht Club noticeboard. The club is affiliated to the Welsh Sea Rowing Association and Aberaeron Yacht Club. We row to sea in Celtic longboats, four-person rowing boats with fixed seats and a cox. We currently own two longboats – Seren Aeron and Her Aeron - and are seeking funding for a third boat and trailer. Whilst some members row for fun or fitness, others like to compete in the WRSA league events that take place around the coast of Wales during the summer. The Club also participates in other special events such as the Great River Race on the Thames in London and the biannual Celtic Challenge, the world’s longest true rowing race, a distance of about 90 nautical miles between Arklow in Ireland and Aberystwyth. For images of these races and other rows, please visit our Gallery page. If you would like to try rowing and wish to join us, please get in touch via our Contact page. Prospective members are welcome to join us for two free rows before being asked to join.
